Opened in 1972, Batten Arts & Letters is a 9-story tower on the campus of Old Dominion University. The lower three floors house classrooms, labs, and lecture halls, while the upper six floors are almost exclusively faculty offices. BAL is home primarily to the foreign languages, English, and communications departments.
BAL is currently undergoing a massive renovation. The building is named for Frank W. Batten, a local publishing maven and university benefactor.
