Kaufman Hall is home to various physical sciences programs at Old Dominion University. The building houses lecture halls, computer labs, laboratories, classrooms, and faculty offices.

Kaufman Hall was originally two separate buildings--Kaufman Hall to the west and Duckworth Hall to the east. In the early 1990s, the buildings were renovated and expanded. Part of the expansion involved construction of a complex of lecture halls and labs spanning the backs of the two buildings and the space between them, effectively creating one single building.

For a time after the expansion, the building was referred to as Kaufman-Duckworth Hall before the Duckworth name was dropped altogether. The former Duckworth Hall had been named for a past Norfolk mayor who was opposed to the racial integration of Norfolk's public schools.
