  • I grew up on 35th Street & Broadway during the time when we safely took the subway at night and went to our school dances in Manhattan. Astoria was a "real neighborhood" during that period. Our parish church was Most Precious Blood. My friends and I used to hang out at Finks Ice Cream Parlor on Broadway and 32nd Street.
