Said to be named after Himmadi Keshi, wife of one Nagi Reddy, a chieftain during the Vijaynagar empire. In Kannada, Himmadi = Heels and Keshi= Hair. It is said that her hair touched her heels. Nagi Reddy was so fond of her that he named this fort after her. Over the years, the name evolved to Medikeshi and then to Midigeshi. Located about 125 km from Bangalore and 21 km from Madhugiri town
