Kadhuveli Lake is a beautiful wetland, where migrating birds stop on their planetary journeys. People love to watch the birds there. There are many fish and grasses and animals, as well as farmers all around depending on the grace of the goddess of the place. The Kadhuveli Siddha once meditated here thousands of years ago -- he is commemorated at the newly restored Shiva Mahaeeswaran Temple in Irumbai near Auroville. He predicted the coming of Auroville and its beautiful gardens and restored desert.

  • unfortunately it appears to be a hell of differences between the fabulous legend of the past and the reality of today,this once upon a time dream land has been in its major parts invaded by GREEDY prawn farmers,well after all its the order of the day greed for money and neglect for a treasure of nature could have been a world class natural sanctuary but who cares surely not the people who should not only will we not take our money with us in hell but we shall leave behind us a destroyed environement and that is not not cheap talk its a process of degradation I have witness since 35 years ago when I used with a friend to cycle across the lake at a time when nature was left alone untouched by so called development not only its not getting better its going worst day after day good luck for future generations lucky us we had the best time
