  • I Anthony Joseph silveira, was proudly born at the Silas B Hayes hospital in 1970 . I am glad that it is still standing ; especially as a D O D BUILDING . I was at Ft Ord beging of summer to see it , but unfortunately could not go inside to see it closer . How sad !!!! I'm wondering what happened to the records for my birth or my father's Manuel Arthur Silveira military records. Again I'm glad that I was able to get to see the building . Thank you for your time . Signed, Anthony J Silveira
  • My daughter leahi y V., was born is Silas B Hayes hospital in 1978. Sometimes I want to go see where we were stationed at Fort Ord and hospital my daughter was born in, and the house that we were living in, on post. I am so glad is still standing so that maybe I can get a chance to someday to see it. Since my husband's death, I am flooded with memories of the past.
  • I was stationed at Ord from 1980 - 1985. Both my son a daughter were born at Silis B. I worked the ER there. We lived on 5th Cav Circle. Glad to see Silas B. is still there. Sad the Fort is gone with all the history that went with it.
  • I was stationed here from 1976 to 1979 and worked in the newborn nursery then the pediatric clinic. I always felt proud of the job l did as a medic of the USSA MEDDAC Co. I lived in the co-ed barracks (L- shaped) , behind the hospital. I have very fond memories to this day of the great professionals I've worked and lived with. Greg Woyton
  • My research indicates that Silas B Hayes Hospital actually opened in 1972 with construction beginning in 1969. I was born at Ft. Ord in February of 1972 myself, but according to my parents it was in the old WWII era hospital.
  • I was with USA MEDDAC from 1973 through 1975. I worked in the compounding pharmacy under Co Schaeffer. I was exposed heavily to Phenacetin, a compound of APC's OR PAC's. After 20 tears I developed bladder cancer from phenacetin exposure. I did well for 15 years then I was hit hard again with bladder, lung and bone cancer and am dying. Did anyone else work at the pharmacy? I remember Karen Brewer and Jack. M benefits depend on someones recognition of APC,s
  • I was born there in May 1976 :) I want to go and visit there one day.
