"The site was used as a dive bombing practice range for NAAS Crows Landing-based Navy pilots during World War II. The leases for the site were canceled in 1946 and the site was listed as surplus in a status report in 1947. The various parcels that make up the former GBR site are now used primarily for agricultural purposes."

"Mr. Bill Jensen and Mr. Kenneth Lindgren, two local residents of the Gustine area, remember the location of GBR and were able to provide details regarding DoD use of the property. An area within the GBR site was depicted by the two gentlemen as the former target area. According to the two men, the target was located at the top of the highest hill of the GBR site, approximately 500 yards north of Sullivan Road.
"Mr. Jensen, whose property is adjacent to the GBR site, met with TechLaw during the site visit and pointed out the location of the former target. The area he indicated corresponds with
the latitude and longitude referenced by the DoD. According to Mr. Jensen, the target consisted of a net strung between eight large poles (similar to telephone poles), none of which remain on the property. He remembers seeing Hellcat Fighters flying over the area and using the target."
