This area was known as Fort Ord until the fort was closed down. For the most part, it is a ghost town. There are many old buildings that are boarded up and not in use. The areas that are still in use include the housing, schools, and various community centers. Housing here is for married military personnel who are stationed either at the Defense Language Institute or the Naval Postgraduate School.
