Historic location of the Stratton Ridge Oil Field near Clute, Brazoria County, Texas. The area sits atop a salt dome from which oil and sulphur were extracted during the early years of the 20th century. The area is now dominated by petrochemical plants owned by Dow Chemical and INEOS, but there are no longer any oil wells (at least none are visible from the road).
INEOS was formerly known as Innovene USA LLC, and before that, it as part of British Petroleum.
