Western Fuels Association's Dry Fork Mine is a surface coal mine, situated in Wyoming's portion of the Powder River Basin. Coal from this mine is transported by BNSF Railway to customers throughout North America. During 2007, production from the Dry Fork Mine amounted to 5,303,516 tons, the 38th highest among coal mines in the United States.
Future demand for coal from the Dry Fork Mine will also be driven by a new supply contract with Pacificorp for its Dave Johnston Power Plant in Glenrock, Wyoming, and in anticipation of Basin Electric Power Cooperative’s new coal-fired power plant, which will be located adjacent to the mine facilities and is scheduled to come on line in 2011.
