The area of the Papikio mountain was an important center of Orthodox monasticism during the Byzantine period. Investigations have revealed three single-aisled Byzantine churches (Catholic monasteries small), two monasteries and a Byzantine baths.
  Based on archaeological findings, the life of the monastery complex in the Rhodope Lino begins from the mid-11th and ends in mid-14th century.
