Nagsankar mandir ( Temple)

Nag-Sankar Temple is a famous shrine situated near chatia, to the east of Tezpur, in Sonitpur District. The temple is believed to be built by King Narasankar of Nagakha in the 4th century.

Nag-Sankar Temple has a large pond with hundreds of rare variety of soft-shell turtles. A large number of peacocks are also found here.Python, deer and also other animal keep the temple environment always a visitor's attraction.

A small guest house is also opened to guests

  • Attraction of naagsankar is being detoriorated. The animals like python, snakes, dear and other animals which were found there are not available now. The hotel which is there has not been maintained properly. Right here government depertment & if any commitee have the strong role to play for the maintainace of the historical monuments of the temple.
