NRG Park (formerly Reliant Park, formerly The Astrodomain) is a collection of sports, convention and entertainment facilities located south of the Texas Medical Center in Houston, Texas. Naming rights for the complex were purchased by Reliant Energy, a Houston-based electricity provider.
NRG Park encompasses 350 acres of land and consists of five main venues:
-NRG Stadium - a 71,500-seat multipurpose retractible-roof stadium, home of the NFL
Houston Texans and the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo
-NRG Center - a 706,000 square foot convention and exhibition center
-NRG Arena - an indoor sports and entertainment arena
-NRG Astrodome - the world's first air-conditioned domed stadium, former home of
the Astros (MLB), Oilers (AFL/NFL), and UH Cougars (NCAA)
-Methodist Training Center - practice and training facility for the NFL Houston Texans
The complex sees nearly 750 events yearly, including pro, college and high school football, the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, soccer, concerts, and the Grand Prix of Houston.
NRG Park is served by the NRG Park Station of the METRORail Red Line, and features one of the world's largest parking lots, with a capacity for 26,000 vehicles.
