This is a popular hiking trail; though not altogether easy, I've seen plenty of folk in their sixties and seventies on it. The main objective is to reach the observation point, from which you can view the native palms nestled up high in a crevice. Back in 1991 I actually climbed up among the native palms.

I can only get four (4) satellites on my handheld GPS receiver here, deep between the canyon walls as this observation point is. Averaging over multiple fixes taken years apart, a rough average for its position is around north latitude 33 degrees, 21 minutes, 38.6 seconds, west longitude 114 degrees 05 minutes, 58.0 seconds, with altitude about 2360 feet above mean sea level. This places it around 0.40 miles due east of the unpaved parking area and a resultant 200 feet up after climbing and descending along the trail many times; somehow it always seems surprising that this is less than a half-mile long hike.
