Stainless Steel Finishing Plant
Principal Products: Cold Rolled Stainless Steel - Sheet and Strip

Allegheny Ludlum's Vandergrift plant, purchased in 1988 from USX Corporation, manufactures cold-rolled stainless steel in sheet and strip form. The first steel mill on this site was built in 1895-96 by Apollo Iron and Steel Company, which also built the town of Vandergrift (named after a company director) to house the mill workers. In 1907, the Vandergrift steel mill was the largest rolling mill in the world.

Today the Vandergrift plant consists of 63 acres with approximately 1.1 million square feet under roof. Plant facilities include a coil buildup line, two turbulent-flow anneal and pickle lines, 62 and 52 inch Sendzimir mills, a 62 inch temper mill, and an advanced slitting and packaging center.
