Brighton Beach Power Station is a natural gas fired combined cycle electricity generating facility with a name plate capacity of 580 MW. Construction commenced in 2002 and commercial production was initiated in October 2004. It is 50% owned by Atco Power Ltd. and 50% owned by Ontario Power Generation Inc. and was built at a cost of $403 million.
The plant features two General Electric 170 MW 7FA cumbustion turbine generators and one General Electric 230 MW DN-11 steam turbine. The waste heat from the gas turbines is captured in a heat recovery system and used to produce steam which runs a steam turbine connected to a generator.
