Paulinskill Viaduct

USA / Pennsylvania / Portland /
abandoned / shut down, 1910_construction, viaduct (bridge construction style)

An abandoned railroad bridge which spans the Paulins Kill in Hainesburg, NJ. Built by the Delaware Lackawanna & Western in 1910 as part of its Lackawanna Cutoff. It was abandoned by Conrail in the late 1970's. Today New Jersey Transit is conducting studies to restore the cutoff and restore passenger trains between Hoboken, Newark, Stroudsburg, the Poconos, and Scranton.

For a thrill you can go across the entire span of this bridge through the center. Each pillar contains a room and doorways that lead to the next pillar

  • Watch out for the obstacles in the pillars! I'd suggest you bring some balance with you, unless you like falling into crappy water.
  • The bridge is rather large and the seven pillars are awsome but there is way more to it thatn that. In the begging of the segment of the bridge is a small dark door. it leads you down about 10 steps but its too dark to see even an outline. Once you go down into that room you will find a other door. In the second chamber there is a loft thing that you have to get over to acess secret tunnles
  • Bridge on station road is being rebuilt; therefore, the entire road is closed to public vehicles. Not sure how long it will be closed for.
