The original Roslyn Viaduct was opened in 1949. It was replaced in 2012, due to structural age and obsoleteness.
It was renamed in the 2010s as the William Cullen Bryant Viaduct through the passage of a bill created by then-New York State Senator Jack Martins, after the late poet; Bryant was one of the most famous and well-respected Roslynians of all-time.
