Ujani Dam & Reservoir


Ujani dam is built on Bhima River (a tributary of Krishna) in Maharashtra state in India. Ujani dam is located in Village Ujjani in Madha Taluka (Solapur District).

It has a reservoir capacity of 1517 Giga Litres (GL). So it is one of the biggest reservoirs in the region supplying water for drinking and irrigation in the Solapur district (Maharashtra) and Bijapur district (Karnataka).

It is the third largest reservoir in Maharashtra after Koyna (2800 GL, on Koyna - Krishna) and Jayakwadi (2171 GL, on Godavari)
Constructed in June 1980 on Bhima river
Gross Storage: 110 TMC
Live Storage: 55 TMC
Area at FRL: 32500 ha (about)

Ujani dam is made on river bhima it is one of the biggest dam in maharashtra ,it is having underground tunnel canel of about 29 kilometers which supplieing water towards river sina.

is there something fishy going in the backwaters of ujani dam... fisherman there seems to be a bit worried..they have spotted something big in there... but no one knows what it is... is it a very big fish...i dont know...
