Residence designed c. 1894 in the Shingle style for Montrose Whiting Morris {architect} for himself. Morris was a regarded Brooklyn architect, most famous for his work on the Alhambra Apartments, Imperial Apartments, and Renaissance Apartments.
It was subsequently purchased in 1929 by Morris Hadley {attorney}. Hadley served as a partner in the law firm of Milbank, Tweed, Harley & McCloy. He also served president of the New York Public Library and the Russell Sage Foundation.
