Premonstratensians convent was founded in Doksany while the Strahov monastery in 1143 or 1144 by the King Wladislaw II. This was the second convent founded in Czech country. First sisters came from Dűnnwald in Rhineland. The convent shared the fate of its country, its disasters and prosperity times. During the Hussite wars Doksany sister had to leave, but after about a five year exile returned. After the Thirty Years' War end the Abbot of Strahov Questenberk took in from Magdeburg relics of St. Norbert here to Doksany in autumn 1626, and later was saved Strahov, where they are retained to presrnt. In 1782 the convent was Emperor Joseph II. dissolved. The monastery than served as a barracks and later as a mansion. Doksany convent in 1162 founded another one in Krakow Zwierzyniec suburbs and from here in 1998 was renewed the life in the Doksany again.
