The former Cistercian monastery in Zdar nad Sazavou is originally Gothic, later Baroque rebuilded area. The monastery, which in the Middle Ages and the Baroque period was one of the important Cistercian monastery was founded in 1252 by the group of Cistercian monks of nepomuk and abolished after 1784 by Emperor Joseph II. The Prelature building then served as a castle. The last owner was a family of Kinsky to which the castle was returned in 1991. Today is a Museum of the Book and and Museum of Architect Giovanni Santini placed here.
