"Rupite" Monastery Complex

The construction of the monastery complex near temple of Vanga (Sveta Petka Bulgarska) began in 2002. Initiator of the project is a foundation “Vanga“. Authors of the project are the architects Lozan Lozanov, Bogdan Tomalevski and Atanas Panov.
The monastery complex consists of:
- Exhibition Hall, where will be exposed objects, photographs and documents related to the prophetess Vanga;
- Hall for religious ceremonies;
- Rooms for accommodation of pilgrims and tourists.
On the territory of the monastery are also the grave of Baba Vanga, the house, where the prophetess took a guest, healing water springs (ayazmo) and others.
On the hill located opposite to the monastery was made huge stone cross, embedded on the hill-side.

The Rupite and their surroundings have been declared a protected area, declared by Order № 385 of 17.06.1980 of the Committee for Environmental Protection at the Council of Ministers, promulgated in issue № 69/1980 of the State Gazette.
Area: 20.0 hectares.
