These are the administrative offices of the Reunification Church's operations in the DPRK, as well as a cultural hall and interfaith center for the Reunification Church's outreach work among north Koreans. The Reunification Church is based on a Christian interpretation on the east Asian belief of the "mandate of Heaven" (which is also the basis of the cult of the Suryong in the DPRK). It was founded in 1954 by the Rev. Sun Myung Moon. The Reunification Church has maintained a negative to ambivalent view of the DPRK, nevertheless Rev. Moon made overtures to the DPRK President Kim il Sung in the early 1990s.
