place with historical importance, nature conservation park / area
Formerly the homestead and export point for the owners of the Slagbaai Plantation, this site is now a historical museum and dive site. Like much of Western Bonaire, this area was ravaged by the effects of Hurricane Lenny, whose waves all but destroyed the main house and leveled several of the smaller surrounding buildings. These buildings were rebuilt by the park in the years following Lenny and now have a small snack bar and picnic tables available for park visitors.
