Port Royal

Jamaica / Saint Thomas / Port Royal /
village, archaeological site, fishing village, former national capital

This place was once the headquarters of many of the pirates of the Caribbean. It was home to Blackbeard, Henry Morgan and many others. From here, they used to attack Spanish ships loaded with gold coming from South America. It is said this was the wickedest place on Earth. Slaves were brutally butchered by the whites that lived there when they get drunk and the women were raped repeatedly. Finally, an earthquake hit the island and sank half of it. Population: 3.004 (1991 census).

  • Or mabye it was because they foolishly built their city on a sandbar...
  • but they never expected an earthquake to happen and sink half the city
  • Nice fair and balanced reporting there. WHY DO YOU NEED TO SHOUT IT THOUGH?
  • Also, the earthquake happened 28 years BEFORE Blackbeard operated there...
