---------------------

Top Bridge marks the convergence of the City of Parksville's Top Bridge Mountain Bike Park, Electoral Area G's Top Bridge Community Park, Englishman River Regional Park, the Top Bridge Regional Trail and conservation lands owned by The Nature Trust of BC, all joined together by the Top Bridge Crossing, a Regional Trail System suspension bridge. Top Bridge is an historic place long enjoyed by area First Nations. Top Bridge got its name as the site of the first road bridge over the Englishman River, part of the 19th Century Alberni Highway originally connecting Nanaimo and Port Alberni. Today, Top Bridge is a popular recreation spot, great for swimming, sunning, nature viewing and experiencing the beautiful Englishman River.

The Top Bridge Crossing is an 81-metre, three-tower, cable suspension bridge over the Englishman River built for use by pedestrians and cyclists. The Crossing was completed in 2007 after eight years of fundraising by the Regional District of Nanaimo and with financial assistance from the Province of BC. The bridge is situated on the old Alberni Highway road allowance under permit from the Ministry of Transportation.
