  • Called "a town full of art, but with no artists" The atmosphere here can't help but inspire people to create, but with little to no market (except during tourist season) very few people actually make thier living at it.
  • On Marine (The main street running along the water) There are a great many small cafes, resturaunts, bistros and diners. Rene's 2for1 Pasta is an excellant italian place, The Little Teapot is a quiet teahouse just dripping with atmosphere, and The Old Jailhouse Cafe is actually biult in the old jailhouse, including the origional bars.
  • I happen to live here, and Powell River is a nice, small-ish town. Some of the houses and buildings are very historical and beautiful. It's a dying town though, so it will become a ghost town soon since the mill is shutting down, and alot of people will be out of work. Also alot of businesses are moving to Courtenay, for they dont get enough business here. Alot of businesses and people are leaving this town.
  • The town hasn't died yet. Lots of retirees moving into the comunity and the house prices have gone through the roof.
