park, hiking, trail, footbridge
This crossing of the Sandy River by the Sandy River Trail is aided by a footbridge that is generally helicoptered in each spring, removed each fall. In Nov. 3-9 2006 29 inches of rain and a 50-year flood brought the worst damage since 1964 to this Upper Sandy River area. A number of trail sections were washed out, but the route can still be easily followed along the (unstable) river banks. The Pacific Crest Trail heads northeast from here (top right of box) and southeast, up the Sandy River valley.
