This is a beautiful stand of virgin hemlock along a mountain stream. Beautiful in the summer sun and under the winter snow. The 140-acre area has more resemblance to the hemlock-northern hardwood forests than to the oak-chestnut forests in which it is located. It is designated a National Natural Landmark.
