Regio VIII occupies the south western sector of Pompeii, bounded to the north by the Via Marina and the Via dell'Abbondanza and to the east by the Via di Stabia. The regio also defines the southern limits of the forum and contains the administrative offices of the Hall of the Aediles, the Curia and the Hall of the Duoviri.

The regio is composed of 7 insulae as shown in the graphic below. Of these, insulae 2 and 4 contain properties that are examined here in more detail
