Hielanman's Umbrella (Glasgow)

The glass walled bridge that carries Central Station over Argyle Street, and there is now a some dainty shops underneath now that there is half decent lighting and big fans to suck away all the exhaust fumes. People coming down from the Highlands in the 19th Century looking for work would shelter here if they were homeless. Became known as the Hielanman's (Highland man's) Umbrella - a derogatory term that stuck.

Today it is best known as where you go to get into The Arches nightclub.
