By far the oldest of the city’s parks, in existence since 1450. Glasgow Green is owned by the people of Glasgow and is under the stewardship of Glasgow City Council. The Council are charged with its upkeep on behalf of the people. Technically, each resident is permitted to graze one goat upon the Green.
Glasgow Green incorporates extensive open spaces, modern play facilities, vast winter gardens and historic People’s Palace museum.
Glasgow Green is host to many of Glasgow’s major events like the World Pipe Band Championships, the city’s guy Fawkes’ Night firework displays, Glasgow Fair, the Great Scottish Run etc.
