The 4th member of the Stalwart Class of Ocean Surveillance Ships, USNS Triumph was activated by the US Navy in 1985 under the control of the Military Sealift Command, and served for 10 years based out of Pearl Harbor. She was deactivated in 1995 and laid up in reserve at Suisun Bay, where she remained until custody of the ship was briefly transferred to the US Air Force and she was removed from the fleet for non-operational training purposes.

She was returned to the US Navy and laid up again as a member of the Suisun Bay Reserve Fleet, and is currently being utilized as a spare parts source for her sistership now in service as the State of Michigan, the traning ship for the Great Lakes Maritime Academy.
