The José Martí Memorial (Spanish: Memorial José Martí) is a memorial to José Martí, the national hero of Cuba, located on the northern side of the Plaza de la Revolución in the Vedado area of Havana.
Construction of the tower began in 1953 on the 100th anniversary of José Martí's birth.
The monument was finally completed in 1958 during the final days of the Batista dictatorship.
At the base of the monument is a museum on José Martì. For a small charge an elevator to the top takes you to the viewing platform, giving excellent 360 degree views of Havana.
