 bar, apartment building

4-story residential building originally completed in the mid-1800s as a pair of townhouses. In 1946 they were joined and the facade remodeled. The ground floor is faced in painted concrete, while the upper floors are painted red and scored to resemble stone blocks. At the 2nd floor, the eastern half has its three bays of windows replaced by a long studio window of four sections. At the roof, the cornice has two sections of brackets and paneled fascia board, with roof gardens above. A black metal fire escape runs down the western two bays. The ground floor is occupied by The Hawthorne bar.
