The 7th Precinct services the Lower East Side of Manhattan. It is the second smallest precinct in the city consisting of only .62 square miles. The population is enhanced during working hours due to the thriving business on Orchard St. and the large transient population utilizing the Williamsburg Bridge and the 2 subway stations at Essex Street and Delancey and Essex St. and E. Broadway. The precinct has always been a true melting pot with 45% of the population being foreign born over the last century.
