"Poplar Hill" (Glen Cove, New York)

USA / New York / Glen Cove / Glen Cove, New York
residence, LIGC - Long Island Gold Coast, Georgian (architecture)

Estate home designed c. 1917 in the Georgian Revival style by Charles A. Platt on originally 35 acres of land for Frederic Bayley Pratt {attorney, financier, capitalist}. Pratt served as partner of Charles Pratt & Co. and president of Morris Building Co. He was also on the committee of the first Regional Plan of New York. Martha Brooks Brown Hutcheson designed a terraced garden.

It is now adaptively reused as the Glengariff Nursing Home. The interior has sadly largely been lost. Prior on the site was a home built in 1898 by Babb, Cook & Willard in the 20th Century Eclectic style.
