This is the spot where Andy and Opie were when Opie picked up the rock and threw it in the lake in the opening credits of The Andy Griffith Show. The water has gotten lower so there's no longer a lake where the rock would have landed. The water level was lowered to reduce pressure on the earthen dam.

  • I visited here twice to explore the Andy Griffith Show connection. A thrill to be able to walk down the path to the fishing hole! Sure could have used this map on the first visit, no one around there seemed to know the exact location, but we did find it in a short time. Great place to visit for a TAGS fan.
