US Highway 287 travels almost 1900 miles from Port Arthur, TX (TX 87/16th St.) to Choteau, MT (US 89). From its intersection with TX State Highway 87 in Port Arthur, it travels northwest through Fort Worth and to Amarillo, TX where it meets its parent route - US 87. North of Amarillo, US 287 splits off to the north going through Denver and across Wyoming. It stops at the south entrance of Yellowstone and the northern segment begins at the west entrance. It continues north up to US 89 in Choteau where it ends. Colorado State Highway 14 is an east-west highway that begins at US 6 (3rd Street) in Sterling (near I-76). It crosses US 85 in Ault, then meets US 287 in Fort Collins. On the northwest side of the city, SH 14 splits from US 287 and crosses the Roosevelt National Forest. It runs through Walden, then southwest to US 40 where it ends at the edge of Jackson County (bordered with Grand County).
