Sungri Street (Pyongyang)

"Sungri" means victory in Korean; in this case, it to victory over the Japanese in Korea during WWII, allegedly achieved single-handedly by Kim Il Sung. It was formerly Nammun Street (Jap: Nanmon-dōri; 南門通), but in the 1950s was renamed Stalin Street; after he fell out of favor, the name was again changed to Victory Street.
