This exit is comprised of two interchanges connected by collector-distributor roads on Interstate 95 south of downtown Petersburg, Virginia near the northern terminus of Interstate 85. It is also connected to two additional interchanges to the north by collector-distributor roads (making it a four interchange complex).

The southernmost interchange is a partial semi-directional T interchange with the eastern portion of US-460 Business (County Road). It is free-flowing with two levels and includes the southern end of the C-D roads. Westbound US-460 Business cannot directly access southbound I-95 and connects to Crater Road via Winfield Road, avoiding the interchange . Eastbound US-460 Business runs through the interchange along the C-D road, from Crater Road to County Road.

The northern interchange is a 4 quadrant parclo AB (with loops to the north) connecting to US-301 (and the west portion of US-460 Business), Crater Road. The southbound right turn ramp is an indirect hook ramp onto Graham Road. Only one intersection at the crossroad is signalized.

In the southbound direction, it is simply Exit 50 and the exit from I-85 enters the C-D road. In the northbound direction the exit is split into 50A, 50B, 50C, and 50D, with 50D continuing around Exit 51 and connecting to US-460 Business again at Wythe Street and Washington Street.
