MD Route 5, Branch Avenue, Waldorf, Silver Hill
A directional cloverleaf interchange with connections to and from Auth Road on the northeast quadrant, which provides indirect access to northbound MD 5 from southbound I-95 & I-495 (inner loop) (Exit 7B), and a semi-directional flyover ramp from southbound I-95 & I-495 (inner loop) to southbound MD 5 (Exit 7A).
First constructed and opened in 1964 along with the entire Capital Beltway, the interchange was formerly a full cloverleaf with the aforementioned indirect access to northbound MD 5 from southbound I-95 & I-495 (inner loop) through Auth Road (Exit 7B).
In the early to mid-1990s, the original loop ramp from northbound MD 5 to southbound I-95 & I-495 (inner loop) was closed and replaced with a signalized left turn at the nearby Auth Road intersection, which was also directly accessible from Auth Road itself.
In 2008, the current semi-directional flyover ramp from southbound I-95 & I-495 (inner loop) to southbound MD 5 (Exit 7A) was constructed, replacing the former loop ramp that served that movement, in addition to the reconstruction of the loop ramp from northbound MD 5 to southbound I-95 & I-495 (inner loop), which includes a connection from Auth Road adjacent to the Exit 7B ramp from southbound I-95 & I-495 (inner loop).
