place with historical importance, carnegie
One of the 2500 original Carnegie Library buildings built between 1889 and 1921. This building was one of the first libraries that had the book stacks open to the general public, thus requiring much less personnel to manage the library functions. In the basement, there is a semi-circular indoor hall that functioned as state for theater and musical performances.
The building ceased to operate as a library in 2002 and is now vacant.
