This hill is a landmark in the area as well as a archeological site.
Bronze an Iron age settlements have been found in the area as well as a fortified Dacian settlement and a Roman mining settlement and a medieval citadel.
The excavation locations are located on or around the Uroi Hill, a 300m tall rock outcrop, with an escarpment on the river side and a slop on the back side. The Iron Age settlements are located on plateaus/terraces at the base of the escarpment, as are the Roman mining settlement and WWII military trenches. The Iron Age fortifications are located below on the terraces and on the back side of the Uroi Hill. The Bronze age settlements are located below on the terraces. The is also a Bronze age and Neolithic settlement on top of the hill.
