This was originally built as Elliott's Hardware, a local institution that opened a 75,000 square foot building here in 1984, until the openings of Home Depot in 1997 and Lowe's in 2007 forced it to look for a smaller location as competition started to hurt it. In 2010, the building was sold to Kroger, which extensively renovated the building inside and out. The new Kroger opened in 2012.
