This is an abandoned rest stop / vista point off the I-280 freeway. It is only accessible heading North and provides a ramp to continue going North. The exit is blocked off by signs and plastic reflector tubes and is apparantly heavily monitored by the CHP. There seems to be a a rest room and a parking lot at the vista point.

According to the CHP, it was closed off due to high drug activity and other illegal activities. It is probably cheaper to close a vista point like this than to increase patrols.

  • I took a chance today and went off the side of the highway around the 'Road Closed' signs and headed up towards this closed Vista Point. To my dismay, at the top of the hill the road was blocked off by a fence and a CHP officer was parked there. Fortunately for me, after checking out my license/registration the officer just told me to not come back again and sent me on my way. I was surprised they actually had someone up there, but I won't be going back, that's for sure!
