This radar site atop Burns Butte was home to the 634th Aircraft Control & Warning Squadron. The 634th was deactivated at Burns AFS on 30 September 1970. There was a separate housing area for married personnel in the town.

  • I was stationed at Burns Air Force station for 18 MO. force 1967 as a security Force Police. I wonder if the Wagon Wheel Hotel is still there? at the time i was there the population was 4500. WOW.

  • I was stationed at the 634th middle of 1968 until middle of 1969 when I transferred out to attend Aircraft Loadmaster school. I have attempted repeatedly on several site to contact and find anyone who knew SSgt john Sweeney, Motor Pool. I ran into him in 1971 or early 1972 in Kadena AB, Okinawa.
