Camp Walley

In 1968 and 1969, Camp Walley, located north of the Imjin River on the road to the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), was occupied by Company A, 2d Battalion/38th Infantry, 2d Infantry Division during its tours of duty in the hostile fire area.
Before the Korean War, it was the site of the village of Morae-Dong.

  • this was also occupied in 1970 by that same unit. i was at camp walley 2 times from march 1969 to june 1969 and again from Nov-1969 to march 1970. ithe unit moved back in june of 1970 but i did not go as i was too short. so i believe they were there for an additional 4 months to sept. 1970.

  • I was at the airstrip just north of tdc in the mid 70's a co. 2nd. aviation bat. 2nd infantry div. crewchief/doorgunner . we flew multiple missions , ie; inserting troops , delivering supply's , patrols , training , you name it , all over I-corps the buffer-zone . it amazes me how many people don't know about the " DMZ " and what go's on there . even if your up there and nothing happens , it feels like war , looks like war , and act's like war . it's deffinatly an experience I won't forget . dangerouse scary place
