In 1991, when I was there, it was the only live fire base the U.S. had in the world. 40 years after the Korean War. Which, by the way, a peace treaty had never been signed. Those areas on the North Western side stretching from the SW to the NE are bunkers. Each with an M109 howitzer in side.

  • thanks buddy for telling the world that. thank god you didnt say how many
  • I was stationed at Camp Pelham from 1/86 till 1/87. I was a 13E, Cannon Fire Direction Specialist (FDC). I was in A Btry. CPT Wilson and 1SG Joslin were our leaders. We had 2 rotations at 4P3 and one at 4P1. I loved my one year tour there and would not have changed it for anything. I remember the hill up to the maintenance bay -- that was steep but the view was awesome.
  • Korn1321, 4P3 is no secret. The North Koreans have the place mapped out. Our life expectancy was 13 seconds if anything happened. We were a speed bump. C Battery 1/15 1985 – 1987 (2 years 9 months altogether my first tour). I was in Korea when the joker from 8/8 th stole the hand grenade from 4P3. If you were in Korea and in an artillery unit that did DMZ rotations, you went outside that day and waited for the barracks to be searched. It didn’t take them too long to find it. We never heard what happened to the soldier and I have always wondered…
  • I DID TWO ROTATIONS AT 4 PAPA 3 BOTH IN 1991........I HAD ARRIVED IN DECEMBER OF 1990 AT CAMP PELHAM.........AND WAS IMMEDIATELY THRUST INTO GUARD DUTY AT 4 P 3 (BECAUSE OF THE KOREAN GUARDS STRIKE). I WAS IN CHARLIE BTRY "COBRAS" 1BN 4TH FA.

  • Kevin Whisenhunt. I was stationed at Camp Pelham 9/86-10/87 service brty ammo platoon. I was an E4 also assigned in the special weapons detail. We called Camp John C Pelham "Camp John C PrisonCamp" due to the continuous high status. We had an ex marine as a first sgt for most of my time there so it was a living HELL. The monthly 12 road marches were brutal. We went to the field minimum once a month but at the change of units at 4p3 fire base, we hand to go again to the field to aim our guns or support other units.

  • A Btry 1/15 FA Sept 1990. I was at 4p3 when we learned that Iraq had invaded Kuwait. Ended up staying in Korea an extra 9 months and 17 days.

  • North Korea knows what's there and where they are, and has them sighted in, I was there in 91 A Brty 1/15 the Fa S3 told us all that and we were there only to slow them if and when the North came down, that chances were we'd be obliterated in the advance

I rotated out a few days after we got there. what a blast kicking down US 1 in a 109 with my entire arms room. Never forget the ATP injectors bc some dumb-dumb decided too get high on them and every arms room at Stanley was stripped and counted glad mine were all there. I use too get my KATUSA Choi B.S. to lock me in the arms room to sleep of the Soju. another guy in our unit got locked up and broke out I heard he swam the river in leg irons. I really got along with the KATUSA That worked with me.
